Idea of This Topic
Magazines are an interesting collectible. An issue is only published for 1 month, after that no more become available. The idea of a collectible magazine issue, is one that has a demand to own for a particular Editorial/Photoshoot or overall special content of the issue. The issue is out of publication and few copies are available, even fewer in unread, brand-new condition. I own a couple myself, purchased for the sole intention of keeping brand new.

In this topic, any magazines that have increased in value from the original cover price or newer issues that have a good possibility to increase in price. I will continue adding to this topic. Would like to see other members add to it as well.

BTW- Even with so many people collecting Playboy, even the most popular issues rarely increase in value. Most become available for $1 an issue.

This photoshoot was in Maxim magazine January 2003, but in USA it had no nudity. Several months later, People Australia re-released the photoshoot with unpublished photos that had nudity. I have NEVER seen this issue being sold online, but it highly collectible... and rare.

Jennifer Love Hewitt during her "Barenaked" trial in the music biz. The editorial inside has her covered with only a bed sheet. In near mint condition without a shipping label is being sold on EBay for about $30, a brand new issue is harder to find.

I was thinking about buying some copies of New York Magazine with Lindsay when it came out to sell later when they increase in value but in the end I ordered just one which I - of course - still have.

(btw I also do own copies of GQ UK with Kylie and Rolling Stone with JLH :D)

Irina Shayk in GQ December 2010 Spain

Irina Shayk did a photo spread for this issue of GQ Spain. Before the issue was released there was a lot of controversy- Irina Shayk said she did not pose naked and that GQ photoshopped out her bikini in some of the photos to make it appear she posed naked.

This is a issue I bought brand new. Xalt, you are lucky to own that New York magazine and Kylie in GQ. I am looking for a copy of New York, once in a while one shows up on EBay for cheap.

[image] I paid something over $30 for my copy if I remember correctly which must have been the most I ever spent on a magazine. I've seen it for much more on ebay but also for less sometimes. You can sometimes get rare mags for very good prices suddenly if you keep checking Ebay.

Most rare magazines I own I bought for much less than what their average price is on Ebay. Some did appear on Ebay here in Germany for exaple and stayed under the radar of most international magazine collectors - they would have been much more expensive on Ebay US or UK..

This has been sold for over $200 on Ebay. At the moment you have to pay at least $40 from what I found on a quick search. the 2nd picture came as a foldout poster within the issue.

This issue of Playboy has become one of the most collectible issues of the magazine in the past few decades! Only two years old, and this magazine is highly in demand and selling for $20 up to $40-$50 for sealed, unopened copies.

I will be buying this issue asap, and keeping it mint and in storage.

For everyone whose subscribed to Playboy for years with only D-Rated celebrities posing, not going full nude, or not going nude at all- at least this one issue was worth the subscription.

Unfortunately, as I said, Playboy is not as collectible as you might think, especially in recent years.
